The Arch of Titus was built as a triumphal arch, celebrating the victory at the Siege of Jerusalem in 70 AD. It was built after this, and finished by Titus' brother Domitian after Titus' death in 81. It is an arch dripping with grandeur, with ornate carvings depicting Titus' triumphal procession in Rome after sacking the temple in Jerusalem. It is the opening to the Roman Forum, and it is huge. Made originally of Grecian white marble, it is the climax of Roman classic architecture. This arch is the basis for the famous Arc de Triomphe in Paris, France, and it also has the last known clue to the location of the Ark of the Covenant.
