The Battle of Actium occurred on September 2, 31 BC, on the Ionian Sea near the Roman colony of Actium, which was in Greece. Agrippa led Octavian's fleet against Marc Antony and Cleopatra VII, who were boxed in there. The victory was for the Romans, and it marked the end of the Roman Republic as Octavian (now Augustus) took on the title of Princeps and it was the turning poing of the FInal War of the Roman Republic.
